This picture of Leta Estelle Labuschagne (nee Durandt) was taken in 2004.
This mother of two has a firm grip on the practical issues of our daily existence, and a fondness for maintaining a balance between extremes of just about anything.
Other interests include the occasional spot of gardening or sewing. The membership of the City of Dunedin Choir is a constant source of delight, and a challenge at the same time.
Leta's tertiary education included a degree in Botany with Zoology and Biochemistry, but most of her working career has been spent in managing information. This led to an interest in databases and information systems in general. Leta is currently employed at NHNZ, a documentary film production company, to assist with the implementation of software systems at the company.
Since completing a paper in Computing Concepts and Web Design at the University of Otago in 2004, she is keen on designing and building web sites according to high standards. She has embarked on a new venture, Goose Tree Web Design, which may grow into a full–time business depending on demand in the marketplace. Of course, it may remain simply a hobby.
The first photo is of Leta at about 5 years old in 1956, the next one is at 12 years old (1963), and the third one was taken in 1970 while Leta was a student at the University of Port Elizabeth.
And it was there at university that Leta and Willem met. This picture was taken at their first graduation ceremony in 1972.
